bad experience November 28, 2008 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this model about one month ago and then the hard drive died recently. I am going to send the computer back for repair but most likely I will lost all my data in the drive. what a bad experience.
RUN! November 18, 2008 8 out of 11 found this review helpful
I purchased two slimlines about 8 months ago. This is my first negative review to write about any company or product but I am compelled. Both desktops broke down within the first two months within 3 weeks of each other. After a nightmare with their technical support I sent them both back to be repaired. I am now sending them both back again after another nightmarish experience with the overseas technical suppport. Their technical support team claimed that it is because of the small size and compenents. I attempted to see if they would exchange these slimlines for a larger traditional desktop. I was willing to pay more. They would not. Prior to my experience with their technical support and customer service I would have bought another HP. Now I will try another brand.
What a deal! November 15, 2008 9 out of 9 found this review helpful
I've owned this little powerhouse for a couple of weeks now and have to say, coming from an almost 8 year old desktop and a core 2 duo laptop, I'm definitely impressed. I was a little leary of Vista due to some negative reviews/feedback from friends, but as of late I've been unable to slow this thing down! The other day, I had the entire Office 2007 suite open, editing documents, Winamp playing MP3's, e-mule running, several Firefox browser windows, burned a CD using Nero 9 and then decided to run CCleaner for kicks. No 'coaster' CD, not a skip via Winamp, no hint of lag whatsoever! Unless you're planning on some hardcore gaming, this thing will manage just about any multimedia task to your heart's content - the only thing missing would be an HDMI output. I have this hooked up to HP's 22" widescreen LCD monitor, which complements the very small and chic case the PC is housed in perfectly. Vista's only feature that annoys me (aside from oversimplification for someone who knows computers - advanced functionality is well hidden) is its obsession with asking you if it's ok to open almost EVERYTHING!!
Otherwise, I'm really happy with this purchase - paired with Logitech's THX 2.1 system and the widescreen monitor, this has really turned my desk into an entertainment hub! For the price, I doubt these specs can be beat - even if you built your own!
**edit 12/08 - I bought this thing for under 580$ in 11/08 so wait a little if 700$ seems like too much**
