Product Description THE STORY OF ROBIN HOOD AND HIS MEETING UP WITH LITTLE JOHN AND FINDING HE HAS A LONG LOST HALF BROTHER. HE ALSO FALLS FOR HISBESTFIENDS LOVELY SISTER MARIAN. TOGETHER THEY FIGHT THE EVIL SHERIFF OF NOTTINGHAM TO PROTECT KING RICHARD'S LAND.
Amazon.com Kevin Costner's lousy English accent is a small obstacle in this often exciting version of the Robin Hood fable. That aside, it's refreshing to have a preface to the old story in which we meet the robber hero of Sherwood Forest as a soldier in King Richard's Crusades, coming home to find his people under siege from the cruelties of the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman). After Robin and his community of outcasts and fighters take to the trees, director Kevin Reynolds (Fandango, 187) is on more familiar narrative ground, and he goes for the gusto with lots of original action (Robin shoots two arrows simultaneously from his bow in two directions). Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, as Marion, makes a convincing damsel in distress, and Morgan Freeman brings dignity to his role as Robin's Moor friend. Alan Rickman, however, gets the most attention for his scene-chewing role as the rotten sheriff, an almost campy performance that is highly entertaining but perhaps a little out of sorts with the rest of the film. --Tom Keogh

Not what I expected. July 28, 2010 Meahsmom 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Haven't had a chance to watch the movie yet, but was very disappointed when I received it to open and find that the disc is front and back, making it necessary to stop the movie halfway through to turn the disc over. Definitely would not have purchased it if I had known this up-front.
Great Movie July 12, 2010 Cam Hoffmann (Brandon, MS United States) This is a great movie based on Robin Hood. This is also the movie that Robin Hood: Men In Tights is based off of, although that movie is a parody. If you like action then this is a very good choice.
Good service, poor dvd. June 30, 2010 pippylockstockings While I received the dvd very quickly in the mail, I am pretty disappointed in the dvd itself. To be such a short movie, you actually have to flip the dvd over half way through to finish watching it. That's right. Flip it over to finish watching it. Like I said, I'm very pleased with the speed of the delivery, and will order from them again. Perhaps next time I will splurge for the $10 dvd and get better quality.
The Entertaining Version of Robin Hood June 28, 2010 Patricia Ann Robertson If you are looking for a funny, adventurous Robin Hood, this is the movie to buy. The extended version includes more of Alan Rickman's Nottingham. He was great in this movie. So was Morgan Freeman and Kevin Costner made a handsome Robin, despite the accent problem.
This movie is far more entertaining than the new Robin Hood with Russell Crowe.
The theatrical version is much better June 26, 2010 Rachel M. Gaunt (Greenville, SC) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is another movie that I grew up with. It's one of the best Robin Hood movies that are out there in my opinion. However, I would have to say I prefer the theatrical version to the special extended version. Just some of the extra stuff they added in changed the story. Not so good. I do however recommend the movie if you've never seen it.
